Toshiba M200 Tablet PC. Thursday, May 26, 2005 So when I started the Student Ambassador Program in the fall as a Lead. They gave us a Tablet to use for the year and we were supposed to return it. So, I jump on the conference call today and they are letting us KEEP IT! This year is an awesome year! Everything just keeps getting better and better! I think Microsoft is trying to buy us over...and it's working! They have a really good way of making themselves attractive to students. I think they are attempting to get rid of the evil aura that has been surrounding them for so long. They are really approaching this in a good way. From the Student Ambassador program to the Imagine Cup competition, they have really found a way to get us (especially me) hooked. 3 comments Pepsico Interview Part II. Monday, May 23, 2005 I just got off the phone with Thomas, a manager from Pepsico, and OMGS I got the internship! Lisa will be calling me tomorrow to discuss the details...WHOOOOOO!!! 2 comments Pepsico Interview. I just got off the phone with Lisa and Dan from Pepsico in Plano, Texas. It was really fun even thought it only lasted about 10 minutes. Technical Quesions: Have you heard of Cisco Security Agent? In SQL, what does the 'count' statement do? Do you know ASP and VBScript? Are you familiar with Dreamweaver? Have you done crystal reports? Misc. Questions: So, where exactly do you live? When does school begin in the fall? When do you graduate? As of now, what is your GPA? So I heard you were in Seattle this weekend, what did you do? 0 comments Imagine Cup 2005 Recap. It's all over and done with, finally! Although we didn't place for national finals, we did win 1st in our region! 05/19/2005 Flight into Seattle was nice. Cool, NOT humid, and very sunny...surprisingly. We got to the Residence Inn in the Redmond Town Center and checked out the area. Later in the evening, we met up with Brad, Brian, and Vito for dinner at the Claim Jumper. The food portions are HUGE!!! And the rasberry cheesecake was so good. 05/20/2005 Morning began with an intro to our activities and a presentation of the new Windows Mobile 5.0 devices coming out. It's going to be sweet! 3D games, 4 gig HD for music, photos, etc. and more. Later we had a project fair in Building 30/31. I was so surprised to see how many MS employees came out to see our projects! Thanks to everyone who came out and checked out our stuff! Later that night we had a Halo 2 tourney. MS employees came out to play with us all through the night and 8 top lucky winners won an X-Box! 05/21/2005 [Morning] This morning we went to the Microsoft Conference Center (MSCC), where Best Buy was also having their conference with MS. We got in the room, had breakfast, briefed about the activities for the day, and went first for the regional competition. We went to building 34 and Kevin got us lost. It's not his fault, the paper had a typo. After our presentation, we went back to the MSCC and relaxed. Some Quake III, and Daryll put up some trailers of the games for X-Box 360! I'm telling you the games are going to be awesome! [Afternoon] Lunch followed and Regional winners are were announced in the Cascade room. WE WON! Later were the presentations for Nationals. We are third from last to present and so we watched everyone's presentations. They all were really good. Our turn...and we're done. [Evening] Dinner came, and judges deliberated. Nervousness took over. 3rd place: Northeastern, 2nd place: Carnegie Mellon, and first...Virginia Commonwealth! Too bad we didn't place. [Post Competition] Pavan, Josh, Ryan and I went to Cucina! Cucina! Italian Cafe and chilled at the bar. This is what Imagine Cup is all about: meeting random people from across the nation and making conversation. Our host recommended some really, really good drinks! Sunday, May 15, 2005 I wake up to find myself in Canada. It took me a while to realize it. Check out the view of the tenth floor of Hotel Fairmont Le Reine Elizabeth. flickr pictures 0 comments Flying woes... So I have a business trip in Canada to go to. I love flying, but today was a bit interesting. Flight #1: Hobby to DFW. -Hang over sucks. -Minimal sleep sucks. -Bugging a friend to bring me to the airport. (Thanks Marie!) Flight #2: DFW to Montreal. -Sitting next to large person that needs a seat belt extension was a bit unconfortable. Luckily, there was an empty seat next to us. -Large person = large amounts of...gas. -This guy was trying to read, but kept fallin asleep. He kept dropping his book and snorted and snored. I hope the flight back will be less interesting. I want a normal flight back to home. 0 comments int blogCount = 0; Tuesday, May 10, 2005 ...a new journey begins and my privacy ends. Let's see what's going on in my mind right now: [QOTD] "You put an apple in his mouth?" - Grace "Blech!"s 1) Software Engineering presentation was terrible. 2) OpenGL project was incomplete, since I started it a few hours before it was due. 3) CrystalThought Flash and PowerPoint presentation is to be compelted ASAP. 4) OpenGL Final is on Thursday. "WhooHoo!"s 1) My first time at Whataburger was AWESOME! -a. After you order, you get a plastic number thing. It's really fun to play with (Thanks James!). -b. They have the bendy straw things. -c. They bring your food to you. -d. They walk around to offer condiments. -e. Ketchup comes in a platic bowl thing, not a packet. 2) Javier's party is on Friday! 3) Monreal, Canada business trip on Saturday. 4) Redmond, Washington trip next week. I really need to get back on the work... 3 comments |
