A day in the life of Sohel. Wednesday, September 28, 2005 THREE NEAR FATAL INCIDENTS (within just one hour!) 1. Truck turning, Sohel talking, truck turning, Sohel walking, truck turning, Sohel almost gets RUN OVER, truck HONKS! Thanks to Vik, Sohel lives today. 2. White guy walking, Sohel backing up, white guy walking, Sohel backing up, Tom stop Sohel! Thanks to Tom, Sohel lives today. 3. Sohel walking, Sohel eating peppermint, Sohel walking, Sohel eating peppermint, Sohel CHOKING, Sohel spits out peppermint! Thanks to himself, Sohel lives today. Sohel, no more peppermints for you and quit looking at the lady in the red dress! 2 comments Tom and Rita: Volume 04. Sunday, September 25, 2005 Hurricane Rita is officially dead, and good riddens. One thing I've learned from this is that the media loves to indulge us with fantastic and probable events that will cause death, destruction, and chaos. The Weather Channel did the BEST coverage of Rita. They said Rita has the potential of growing stronger AND getting weaker. It gave facts, rather than the "OMG, we're all going to die" news. I hope everyone east of Houston and in Beaumont are recovering. They are currently kicking everyone of Beaumont EVEN if they have enough food, water, supplies, and electricity. They are telling residents to leave the city with no where to go. The Ford Park/Arena isn't even open as a shelter, but it was open for Katrina victims.
Tom and Rita: Volume 03. Friday, September 23, 2005 So we spent the day cooking, taping, gaming, movie watching, and picture taking. Currently, Rita is a category 3 hurricane, and looks to fall on Galveston and head northward and east of Houston, but near the Beaumont area. I really hope my family is pulling through. We can't get in touch with any of them! I took a trip around my area, and I found that cops are faking it. There was nobody in that cop car in front of walmart!
Tom and Rita: Volume 02. Thursday, September 22, 2005 She's still coming, I'm still staying. Rita looks to be turning toward the Texas/Louisiana coast which is very good news for us, but not my family in Beaumont. I really hope the have left the area completely, not just a little bit north on 69. 0 comments Tom and Rita: Volume 01. Wednesday, September 21, 2005 Hurricane Rita continues to build strength in the warm Gulf of Mexico, please be prepared for anything. After less than 100 miles of hitting land, Hurricane Katrina dropped from Category 5 to Category 3 and died soon after. Tropical Storm Allison wasn't even a hurricane, but when it hit Houston head on, it resulted in about 50 deaths and $5 billon in damages. I'm in the NW area of Houston and I'm now considering evacuating to good old Dallas. Last night, I was very skeptical of the media coverage of Rita, but now after a day of research on hurricanes, weather, history of hurricanes, and lots more that has changed my decision from no to a maybe.
Six Flags, Volunteering, and UH Football. Sunday, September 11, 2005 This weekend was a BLAST!!! Friday after school we (Joseph, Sophia, Solomon, Sohel, and I) left Houston to go to Dallas and came back to Houston right after we left Six Flags. Sohel lost our 60 daffy dollars, almost lost his keys, and almost lost his mp3 player. Saturday morning I left the house to head to Reliant Park to help volunteer, it was the most fun I've had since we (dr. paris, shey, malvin, marie, sohel, and I) got to help out the kids play games on the computer. Later that day, we (vikram, sohel, marie, ben, and I) hit the UH football game and we WON! Stupid Bearkats. Later I whooped up Vik at Cricket and 501 at Gingerman's.
